In 2012 the Cordwainers' Company are focusing their fundraising efforts on the Urswick School in Hackney. With new buildings and facilities, the school has an aspirational ethos but lacks a decent library.
With historic links to Hackney through Cordwainers College, now part of the University of the Arts London, the Cordwainers intend to support the Urswick's culture of excellence in a practical way. Head Teacher Richard Brown notes that "many of the children have little access to books or other reading material outside of school, and we want to remove this barrier to their long-term success".
You can donate to the library fund by clicking here http://www.justgiving.com/geoff-blanford, or you can support our efforts by joining in with the five-a-side football match between Cordwainer teams and the pupils of Year 11 at the Urswick School on Saturday 21st January 2012.
