The Guildhall School of Music & Drama was established in 1880 and is one of the leading conservatoires in Europe. The School moved to its present premises in the heart of the City of London’s Barbican in 1977 and is owned by the Corporation of London.

The Guildhall School is internationally renowned for its innovative and diverse range of courses, and has trained some of the most gifted musicians and performers in the world. Every year the School trains 700 students in three separate disciplines - Music, Drama and Stage Management. The School’s best-known alumni include Jacqueline du Pré, Bryn Terfel, Noel Coward, Ewen McGregor, Joseph Fiennes, and Honor Blackman. By attracting the most gifted teachers and students, the School aims to create a crucible for artistic development which allows all participants to realise their full potential.

The School is extremely grateful to the Worshipful Company of Cordwainers for the part it plays in helping the education and training of Guildhall students.

The Guildhall School is committed to the development of outstanding talent. Outside support is, however, crucial to our work and to the maintenance of these high standards. The Guildhall Circle is our membership association, offering a range of members’ opportunities from £25 to £2,000, with corresponding benefits.
